Your body is a wonderful machine where the inner core is always warm to continue the blood flow to all regions of the body. But with extreme cold conditions hypothermia settles in, the inner extremities is extremely chilled and warm blood fails to circulate and reach the vital organs of your body.

Hypothermia sets in which is the result of the general cooling of the body and dropping of body temperature. You may have impaired motor skills, pale skin, drowsiness, confusion, slurred speech and uncontrollable shivering if hypothermia sets in. That is why, doing extreme water sports like scuba diving, water skiing or even wakeboarding is not advisable during this time.

It is an extremely dangerous situation and can be fatal if the heating does not happen immediately. Wake boarding in cold water requires a wet suit which prevents the cold water in coming in contact with the body. If the body is continually in cold water hypothermia settles in faster and then you may not be able to discern the symptoms faster.


Frost bite

Frost bite is the freezing of a certain part of the body. During wakeboarding the body may be exposed to cold water which may lead to the freezing of the skin and the body part. Frost bite is extremely dangerous as the body part never recovers. A pale sallow skin forms over the frost bitten part and blood flow is cut off. The doctor may have to amputate the frost bitten part to prevent gangrene formation.
